In support of school curricula

To assist teachers and make it easier and more accessible for pupils to master the topics of the Bulgarian National Revival, the art and architecture during that era, the traditional holidays and customs, folklore and crafts, we have prepared thematic lessons in accordance with the curricula of the Ministry of Education and Science.
Holidays & Customs in the Republic of Bulgaria
Introduction to holidays and customs related to the Bulgarian folk traditions – Christmas, New Year, First of March, Lazarus Saturday, Easter, St. George's Feast, etc. The lesson is suitable for students from the 1st to the 5th grades.
Wedding Ceremony in the Bulgarian Lands
Introduction to the wedding rituals of different ethnicities; presentation of the ethnic and ethnographic diversity in the Bulgarian lands and the wealth of folklore by conveying certain moments of the wedding ritual typical of different ethnicities.
The lesson is suitable for students from the 5th to the 10th grades.
Folk Art and Crafts
Introduction to traditional crafts typical of Gabrovo and the region; presentation of folk costumes and ritual objects from the Etar Museum archives.
The lesson is suitable for pupils from the 3rd to the 5th grades.
Folk Beliefs
Introduction to folk beliefs and rituals; learning good wishes, incantations and songs typical of some customs from the Bulgarian festive calendar (Survakane, Koleduvane, Lazaruvane, etc.)
The lesson is suitable for pupils from the 2nd to the 4th grades.
The Bulgarian Society During the National Revival
The Etar Craftsman Street – a miniature model of Gabrovo during the National Revival (18th–19th c.) – distinct architecture, basic crafts and lifestyle of the Balkan Mountain people.
The lesson is suitable for pupils from the 2nd to the 4th grades.
Museum Secrets
An outdoor lesson given to promote the activities of the museum: the lesson includes a walk around the museum expositions and a talk that introduces students to the basic concepts and activities – what a museum actually is, who works in it, what an exhibit is, where and how exhibits are stored.
The lesson is suitable for students from the 4th to the 8th grades.
The Power of Water
Introduction to the technical facilities powered by water at the Etar Regional Ethnographic Open-Air Museum.
