Thematic guided tours
Thematic guided tours are suitable for families, pupils, students and adults. The price of one lecture is BGN 20 in the Bulgarian language and BGN 30 in the English language. Prior booking is required at 0885 865-966.
Bulgarian Revival Era architecture wealth
A thematic tour of the museum with an emphasis on the houses in the Craftsman Street and the architectural sites of public importance displayed on the grounds of Etar Museum such as fountains, bridges, a clock tower and others.
The Traditional Gabrovo House
IIntroduction to the characteristics and the specifics of the interior of the houses; a visit to the second floor of the Sakov’s House, the displays Artisan’s House, 19th Century and Artisan’s House, 20th Century.
Traditional technical facilities on water
Introduction to the specifics and characteristics of all technical facilities powered by water in the territory of the museum. Presented in their natural surroundings, and in operation during all seasons except for winter, they show the resourcefulness of highlanders who have harnessed the power of the water for better productivity.
The world of crafts
Etar Museum features 18 crafts typical of the region. Most of the workshops on the grounds of the museum are operational and artisans in them create their articles right in front of visitors. The thematic talk includes a tour and presentation of certain crafts offering more curious details.
The Calendar Cycle in the Traditional Culture
The Etar Regional Ethnographic Open-Air Museum traditionally celebrates a large part of feasts in the folk calendar. This thematic talk takes visitors to the world of Bulgarian ritual traditions and living folk customs from St. Demetrius Day to St. George's Day, from St. George's Day to St. Demetrius Day and from the Easter holiday cycle.
Balkan Mountain Dairies
Introduction to the peculiarities in the construction of the Balkan Mountain dairies and the specifics of their operation; visiting the dairy from the village of Toplesh, Gabrovo region, arranged on the grounds of the museum, and introduction to the tools and vessels presented therein, which are used in milking sheep and goats, milk processing and storage of white and yellow cheese, butter, cottage cheese and other products.
Sakov’s House
Introduction to the history of the beautiful Bulgarian Revival Time house of the merchant Dimitar Sakov and his family and a thematic tour of the display at the Sakov’s house, representing the town’s way of life from the end of the 19th c. and the beginning of the 20th c.
